Having become GM of the Knicks in 2017, to take over from Phil Jackson, Scott Perry has worked rather well to rebuild the workforce, by recovering Mitchell Robinson and RJ Barrett in the Draft or by bringing in Julius Randle.
It allowed him to stay, and even to be extended, when the new management arrived, when former agent Leon Rose was appointed by James Dolan to take over the franchise.
However, like Bob Myers at Golden State, Scott Perry is coming to the end of his contract with the Knicks, and Newsday announces that the GM will not remain in the franchise’s organization chart. The Knicks have thus decided not to renew his contract while his voice no longer weighs within the club.
With Leon Rose as president, William Wesley as vice-president and Gerrson Rosas as consultant, Scott Perry has indeed become only a minor adviser, far from the role of chief decision-maker he experienced in 2020, when he took over the sporting direction of the club following the dismissal of then chairman Steve Mills.
59-year-old Scott Perry shouldn’t have too much trouble bouncing back, his eye as a talent scout being quite famous in the NBA, after his stints at the Soncis, Pistons, Magic, Kings and therefore finally the Knicks.
