Unsurprisingly, the NBA sanctioned the Knicks following the signing of Jalen Brunson to the “Big Apple” last summer.
The league had thus quickly opened an investigation after the arrival of the leader, signed for 104 million dollars over four years. It must be said that Tom Thibodeau had hired his father, Rick, as an upstream assistant, that his agent is Sam Rose, the son of the president of the Big Apple franchise, Leon Rose, and that a large contingent of the Knicks (the leaders William Wesley, alias “World Wide Wes” and Allan Houston, as well as Julius Randle), had attended the opening of the series between Mavericks and Jazz, during the first round of the playoffs.
Dallas had also appreciated very little and with the clear financial maneuvers of New York in the Draft, in order to free up the maximum salary margin, everyone had understood what the Knicks were preparing.
The consequence is in any case that New York, which therefore negotiated the arrival of Jalen Brunson well before the official opening of the “free agency”, is now deprived of its second round of Draft in 2025.
