After his 3 out of 11 shots against the Suns, Klay Thompson quickly found the target. Pampered by Stephen Curry and Chris Paul, the Warriors shooter scored 18 points in the victory against the Kings, with a 7 out of 12 shooting.
Enough to reassure those who imagined that the absence of a contract extension would weigh on his mentality, and therefore his performance.
“For the moment, I am not concerned about this contract extension. It will happen on its own.” he assures, and this ties in with Joe Lacob’s comments at the start of the week. “ If he wants to be a Warrior for life, he will have the opportunity. This is what we want” explained the boss of the Warriors. “I think he wants to be here. We want him to be here and we treat our guys fairly. I think people just need, like I said the other day, to relax a little bit. Things will get done. Give us some time. »
“I was here when we finished with 23 wins. I was here to lay the foundations”
While waiting for this extension, Klay Thompson is savoring every moment in the Golden State tunic…
“You never know what can happen” he remindswhile two serious injuries had deprived him of the field for two and a half years. “So, yes, I’m going to enjoy it all as much as possible, especially in this jersey. I was here before it got good. I was here before there were four titles, when we finished with 23 victories (during the 2011/12 season). I was here to lay the foundation. So, yeah, I’m going to enjoy it, because everyone thinks it’s nice when they watch the Warriors, but it hasn’t always been like that. »
Klay Thompson is enjoying this season so much, during which he will be able to benefit from Chris Paul’s caviars, that he wants to play as many matches as possible. He has a number in mind.
“I will participate in as many meetings as possible. I hope I reach 70 matches, that’s my goal. 82 might be tough, but why not aim for 70. I’m in good health – I haven’t been this healthy in many years. So I’m going to do everything I can to participate in as many matches as possible. I’m trying to make up for lost time.” he concludes.
