Kings GM appreciates Doug Christie's optimism

The change in tone is pretty clear for the Kings. While Mike Brown was becoming more and more critical of its players, and the club was sinking into a gloomy season, Doug Christie decided to take the opposite path, with “cuddle therapy”. And it seems to be working with six consecutive victories!

“What I think he brings is his optimism, his experience as a player and what he thinks he needs to give to these players, because that’s what he needed when he was playing.” explains Monte McNairthe GM of Sacramento, about the interim coach. “Currently, I find that the guys respond particularly well to all of this. »

Objective Top 6

Thanks to their series of victories, the Kings returned to balance (19 wins – 19 losses) and they even returned to the Top 10 of the Western Conference. Because the goal is to get back to the playoffs.

“I would say that our objectives have not changed”continues Monte McNair. “We want to go to the playoffs. We want to continue to make noise there. We put ourselves in a bit of a difficult situation. We are starting to get through this, but there is still work to do. »

Because the ideal would be to enter the Top 6 to go directly to the playoffs…

“Right now, we're in the play-in zone, it's a way to get to the playoffs and we've seen teams come out and make some noise in the playoffs so if that's the path we have to take, very GOOD. But ideally, we would like to enter the Top 6, to have a little rest before the playoffs. This is our goal, this year and the following ones. »
