Absent for five games due to a sprained ankle, De’Aaron Fox returned to the Kings last night, when they hosted the Cavaliers. And it’s an understatement to say that his return boosted Sacramento!
Mike Brown’s troops certainly had two home victories, against Portland and Oklahoma City, but they regained all their offensive power last night, with incredible skill (59% to 49/83), notably at 3- points (48% at 20/42), behind De’Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk or Sasha Vezenkov.
At the center of it all, Domantas Sabonis enjoyed shifting his teammates hand-to-hand, the Lithuanian completing the match on the verge of a triple-double with 23 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.
A global effort
However, the Cavaliers were not clumsy either, but the Kings began to break away with the return of the substitutes, the Monk/Vezenkov duo allowing Sacramento to never give up in attack. The Kings had taken control of the game and were not going to let go.
It was then Kevin Huerter who would make a series of baskets to increase his team’s lead in the third quarter. A lead which would reach +21 (110-89) at the end of the third quarter.
The Cavaliers, however, will not give up, coming back to 11 points (126-115) as the last two minutes approach. But De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter will be responsible for burying the last hopes of the Ohio players, to celebrate the return of the playmaker with an offensive orgy (132-120) as this team loves them.
WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER
– Collective blasting. Aside from Harrison Barnes, the entire Kings five major participated in the offensive explosion, with De’Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter, Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis reaching the 20-point mark. By adding the contributions of Malik Monk and Sasha Vezenkov off the bench, we get fireworks.
– Mike Brown’s 400th victory. With this fifth victory of the season, Mike Brown won his 400th regular season victory as coach. This is already his 53rd with the Kings, after 42 games won at the head of the Lakers and above all 305 successes when he led the Cavaliers.
