Kevin Porter Jr. sent to the Thunder… only to be cut!

The Rockets GM warned: Kevin Porter Jr. was no longer going to be able to be part of the Houston team. Since the attack on his former partner, for which he risks several years in prison, the playmaker was on the transfer list.

The Texan leaders managed to find a base for him since ESPN teaches us that he was sent, with two “second rounds” of Draft, to Oklahoma City, in exchange for Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.

Kevin Porter Jr. will not wear the Thunder jersey however because the franchise will cut him immediately, taking advantage of his contract where only this 2023/24 season is fully guaranteed, to the tune of $15.9 million. For the 2024/25 season, only one million dollars was guaranteed…

Oklahoma City will therefore have to pay $16.9 million to Kevin Porter Jr. in order to release him. But the club’s GM, Sam Presti, continues his collection of Draft picks as the club now has 15 picks in the first round and 22 in the second round over the next seven years!

As for Victor Oladipo, his transfer (which is also a return to Houston) is really not a surprise. OKC did not necessarily intend to keep him because, remember, he tore the ligament in his left knee during the last playoffs. He could also be released following this exchange.
