Kevin Durant's statements stung Draymond Green

“I hope Draymond gets the help he needs. There was incident after incident. I know Draymond, and… he was never like that, when I was around him and when he came into the league. So I hope he gets the help he needs, gets back on the field and puts all this stuff behind him.”

Even if he was not in the game between Golden State and Phoenix where Draymond Green had slipped again, inflicting a punch on Jusuf Nurkic, Kevin Durant had not failed to react to the new behavior of his former teammate.

KD's statements visibly hit the mark since Draymond Green admitted in his podcast that he had undergone “deep introspection” following the strong words used by his former teammate. The Warriors interior dissected each sentence to understand the scope of the message.

Accept the word “help”

“I looked back at Kevin Durant's statement, and he said, 'He wasn't like that.' So I said to myself that it was time for that to change and that the world had to really get to know me, to know who I am”, did he declare. “Then he talked about help. I'm like, 'How can he say I need help?' And when I reread that with the right vision, I said to myself: 'Maybe I shouldn't hear this word “help” so negatively (…). And maybe he doesn't even mean it as negatively as I might think.' And even if that had been the case, I had made the decision at that moment that I was not going to take it like that.”

Draymond Green then continued his interviews, acknowledging in passing that he would have been ” stupid “ And “immature” not to take advantage of such an opportunity to question oneself.

“It was a very strong moment for me. Because then I could say that I was ready to grow. It was a step in the right direction,” he added.

For his part, Kevin Durant confirmed that his comments were indeed not malicious.

“I didn't mean anything bad in what I said. I know some people view me as a malicious, passive aggressive snake. I know how people feel about me sometimes.” he clarified.
