Kevin Durant had fun with the Brooklyn crowd

As expected, Damian Lillard was greeted with an outpouring of love for his return to Portland. And Kevin Durant in Brooklyn? There too, as expected, it was much more contrasting. Although he didn't want it, the Suns winger still had the right to his tribute video.

“It wasn’t going to stop me from doing my job,” he comments. “But they are classy people. They appreciate everyone who has put on this jersey, even if it is for a ten-day contract. It's a big franchise. I respect that. »

The public was less warm. Kevin Durant was indeed booed (at least at first) by Nets fans, even though his jersey was visible here and there. No problem: he loves it since he finished with 33 points at 10/16 shooting in the Phoenix victory.

“The public knows: if someone speaks to me, I respond,” assures the double NBA champion. “It motivates me too. If I take a shot, I can talk a little behind it. I think the Brooklyn crowd understands me more, probably, than the others in the league. »

Shutting mouths is his job

To add a little more and spice up the debates, the 2014 MVP took on Cam Thomas. In a highlight for the Suns in the third quarter, the four-time top scorer in the league scored a basket with the foul, facing the Nets' rear. He adds a sign to indicate that his defender is “too small”…

“Kevin is like that”reacts Cam Thomas on his opponent's ability to shut down opposing fans. “I love to shut the spectators’ mouths”continues Kevin Durant. “As much as I like the people here, I like to shut them up. There were people looking for my attention. I heard 'I hate you KD', I looked, and there it was 'I love you'. They had my jersey. »

This slightly spicy atmosphere delighted the Suns star. “It’s a good thing for basketball and for the relationship we have with the public. It's always fun to play in New York. They love good basketball”he concludes.
