Kevin Durant extended before season resumes?

After a season that ended with a humiliating sweep against the Wolves, the Suns will give their “Big Three” of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal another chance. Out goes Frank Vogel, who left his place to Mike Budenholzer, and management maneuvered rather well this summer with the arrivals of Mason Plumlee (Clippers), Monte Morris (Wolves) and Tyus Jones (Wizards).

They also extended Royce O'Neale and Josh Okogie, and they could do the same with Kevin Durant. Eighteen months after his arrival in Arizona, the 2014 MVP has been eligible for a contract extension since July 12, and the Suns have until October 21, the start of the regular season to do so. It seems that both parties are on the same page.

“The most important thing is that Kevin Durant loves being here, and we love that Kevin is here.” Josh Bartelstein reactedthe CEO of the franchise. “He's focused on the Olympics, but we're always in dialogue. The most important thing is the relationship, and it's in good shape. I talk to Rich Kleiman (Durant's agent) all the time. The discussions are going very well, and not just about an extension, but about everything else as well.”

With Durant having one year left on his contract, and being 38 during his potential extension, the Suns are limited in their options, and can only offer him one more year at a maximum salary of $59.7 million.
