Kenrich Williams to miss Thunder preseason

Successful passage on the billiard table for Kenrich Williams. The OKC franchise has just announced that its winger successfully underwent an “arthroscopic debridement” (removal of pieces of damaged cartilage and tissue to improve mobility) of his right knee on Tuesday in New York.

According to the Thunder, the 29-year-old's condition will be re-evaluated after the preseason, which begins on October 7 for them against the Spurs. That means he will miss the preseason games as well as training camp, and potentially the start of the regular season.

A hard blow for this specialist in shadow missions who has been slightly losing momentum since last season. While he had always played at least 20 minutes on average since his debut with the Pelicans in 2018, he saw his playing time drop to 15 minutes on average last year.

Enough to produce around 5 points and 3 rebounds on average, before disappearing from the rotation in the playoffs. Arriving at the Thunder in 2020, this player capable of penalizing from afar (36% at 3-pointers in his career) pays the competition with the young talents of the team (Jalen Williams, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins…).

Kenrich Williams had already missed the restart last year due to back spasms that caused him to miss the first ten games. At least, contractually, he is in the clear with two more guaranteed years at around $7 million per year.
