This summer, Kenny Atkinson took over from JB Bickerstaff on the Cavaliers bench. The assistant coach of the Blues filled out his staff over the weeks and we now know all men who will accompany him this season.
His first assistant coach is Johnnie Bryant, a former Knicks player between 2020 and 2024 and especially very close to Donovan Mitchell, with whom he worked in Utah, who extended his contract this summer with the Ohio franchise.
The rest of the staff is made up of Jordan Ott, Mike Gerrity, DeMarre Carroll, Trevor Hendry, Omar Cook, Bryan Tibaldi and Nate Reinking. Again, no surprise since the main names were already out.
“Old acquaintances”
DeMarre Carroll played two seasons in Brooklyn under Kenny Atkinson. Jordan Ott, meanwhile, was an assistant with the Hawks and Nets and has also worked with the new Cavaliers coach. Trevor Hendry too, with a shared experience in Brooklyn, where he was in charge of player development and then video sessions.
Additionally, Alex Sarama will handle player development and Patrick Licursi will be a scout. DJ Ham will also be a video assistant (along with Aaron Robinson and Luke Webb), Andrew Olson will be a shooting specialist and Austin Peterson will manage advanced statistics.
