Kelly Oubre Jr. without a parachute

It's been a little over a week since Kelly Oubre Jr. returned to the court, after his road accident, and his performances since then have been rather decent, despite his clumsiness at 3-points.

Taking advantage of the weakness of the Pistons, the former Wizards was able to achieve his best post-injury match with 17 points at 7/9 shooting in 23 minutes.

“I liked his shots and a lot of other things,” comments Nick Nurse at Sixers Wire. “His confidence, his way of entering the match. He made well-contested shots, like many players in the league, but it's useful when you're looking for yourself offensively. Once again, he was confident, he cut towards the circle, was physical with the ball. He took hits during penetrations and managed to score. »

It is this aggressive attitude towards the basket that is also emphasized by Kelly Oubre Jr. himself. Because since his return, the former Wizards and Hornets was sometimes hesitant.

“Honestly, psychologically, it was my first match without my rib protection,” he explains. “I told myself I would give it a try. We talked about it during the last match and I told myself that, psychologically, I was good, I was ready. I feel strong. »

The Philadelphia winger thus gains momentum and picks up where he left off his season (16.3 points average at 50% shooting success) before his accident.

“Compared to the first matches, slowly, he is getting better,” notes Joel Embiid. “He is regaining his level, which will help us and make us better collectively. I am impatient. »
