With three victories in the last four matches, the Raptors quite simply signed their best period of the season. And the latest success, against Orlando, bears the mark of the duo Kelly Olynyk – Bruce Brown. The two aren't big guns yet (33 and 28 years old, respectively), but they're Toronto veterans, and on a young, weak team, that's always useful.
The Magic had taken a lead of up to 21 points before seeing the Canadiens come back. Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk, coming off the bench, were valuable, especially the second in the third quarter, to reverse the trend. “Brown helped us come back with deflected passes, steals and points”, rejoices Darko Rajakovic.
The two players together compiled 27 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The figure of the meeting is perhaps that of Kelly Olynyk's +/-, which demonstrates his impact: +39 in just 22 minutes!
“It’s our job. Some matches, we don’t need the starters to make the difference”comments the former Denver player, 12 points. “It’s a step backwards. Like the good old days”smiles inside, 15 units and also 4 counters.
The two replacements carried the Toronto bench and breathed new life into this comeback. Their experience is important in this complicated exercise for the Canadian franchise. “This can really help”confides the former Boston player. “There were a lot of matches at the start of the season where we weren't far away, where we didn't take the shot or make the necessary save. »
This is where the elders can bring that little extra. Except that the Raptors have long been deprived of Bruce Brown, who has returned for a few days now and who can form an interesting duo with his teammate. “I'm totally comfortable right now. I know exactly what the team expects of me on both ends of the pitch,” he indicates. “Kelly and I have experienced several situations and several teams, so we will find the solutions. »
