Kawhi Leonard will not be ready for the start of the season…

Unsurprisingly, less than a week before the start of the regular season, ESPN announces that Kawhi Leonard will not be ready for the resumption, and that he will be absent “for an indefinite period” while waiting to treat his knee!

The information will not surprise anyone as “The Klaw” was unable to play any preseason games and the Clippers explained that he could not even participate in exercises with his teammates…

“He did not participate in what we do on a daily basis”explained assistant Brian Shaw after Wednesday's practice. “The official course of action was to be patient with him, so he is doing everything he can to rehabilitate and strengthen his knee with the help of our medical team. And we make do with the guys available. »

James Harden, sole master on board

As always with Kawhi Leonard, vagueness reigns over the diagnosis and the exact seriousness of the problem. We just know that the problem still comes from the inflammation of his right knee, which hampered the end of his last campaign, which prevented him from participating in the Olympic Games with Team USA, and which has therefore still not been set.

So the 33-year-old winger has been dragging this ball and chain for almost seven months. Club president Lawrence Frank explained that several treatments had been tested to try to control the inflammation since the end of last season. Treatments which provided quite a bit of relief to the basketball player, without however allowing him to be completely free of the problem, and therefore to embark on the marathon of the regular season.

Paul George and Russell Westbrook gone, Kawhi Leonard on the sidelines until further notice, it's now James Harden who is in control of the game at the Clippers. And maybe for a long time.
