What was only a small “tension” during a shootaround finally seems a little more concerning… The Clippers have announced that Kawhi Leonard would not play tonight against the Pelicans, and the All-Star winger will miss his third game in a row!
The Los Angeles Times reveals that Kawhi Leonard returned to Los Angeles on Wednesday, and that he has been in treatment for several days for this knee operated on more than 16 months ago. Tyronn Lue confirmed he did not train on Saturday.
As the Clippers are back-to-back, since they play Monday against the Rockets, we will see if it is a simple rest since Kawhi Leonard does not play “back-to-back”, or if his knee really pulls him to the point of not being able to return to the field.
One thing is certain: Kawhi Leonard will miss his fourth game out of six on Sunday, and that’s not reassuring. Another absentee: Robert Covington, who enters the protocol linked to the Covid. The only good news on the Clippers side is the return to competition of Marcus Morris, who had missed both matches at OKC for personal reasons.
