Kawhi Leonard also forfeits for Game 5

Still no Kawhi Leonard in Game 5 between the Clippers and the Mavericks, next night (4:00 a.m.). Tyronn Lue announced that his winger, already absent during Game 4, had not participated in Tuesday's training, and that he would therefore remain on the sidelines to continue to treat his knee inflammation.

“He remains involved”, thus assures the Los Angeles coach. “He is present at shooting sessions, at training sessions, to understand what we are trying to do. So when players make mistakes, he can talk to them and let them know on the bench. He can also tell them what he sees with PG (Paul George) and James (Harden). And he was very talkative. He helped us a lot, even if he doesn’t play.”

The Clippers no longer want to relive the scenario of Game 3 anyway, with Kawhi Leonard limited in terms of minutes, and who is above all present on the field.

A faster and more direct game without Kawhi Leonard

It was in fact without him that James Harden, Paul George and company won Games 1 and 4, recovering home advantage after the defeats in Games 2 and 3, in which “The Klaw” had participated.

The Mavs thus admitted that the faster and more spontaneous play of the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard poses a problem for them.

“When Kawhi is not there, you can see that they are almost different players to a certain extent. I don't want to disrespect their talent, but I think they play with a little more freedom and take a lot more difficult shots. When Kawhi is on the field, I think they are mainly looking to be efficient” explained Kyrie Irving after his team's last defeat.

“When Kawhi is not there, the Clippers play faster, and Paul George and the others have the green light. This gives them one less pass to make, and each one more shot to take.” Jason Kidd said.
