Jrue Holiday extends with the Celtics until 2028!

As he approaches his 34th birthday, Jrue Holiday most likely just signed the last big contract of his career, because ESPN reported overnight that he had extended for four years, and 135 million dollars, with the Celtics ! He is only the fourth player to sign a guaranteed contract worth more than $100 million at age 33, imitating LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Al Horford.

To make this operation possible, the point guard declined his $37.3 million player option for the 2024/25 season and, as a result, is now linked to Boston in the long term, and more precisely until the summer of 2028. Allowing its franchise to save a few million dollars in bonuses.

Enough to also allow the Celtics to keep their hard core intact, made up of Jrue Holiday, but also Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick White and finally Al Horford, until the end of the 2024/25 financial year . They who appear in the playoffs after having flown through the regular season (62 victories – 17 defeats).

Arriving in Massachusetts last October, the 2021 champion (with the Bucks) has since blended very well into Joe Mazzulla's collective, posting 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists on average in 33 minutes (and 48% in shooting, 43% on 3-pointers and 83% on shots), as Boston's fourth or even fifth offensive option.
