Jrue Holiday chose 4 in tribute to Isaiah Thomas

Because the number 21 was retired from the Celtics, in homage to Bill Sherman, Jrue Holiday was forced to change his number upon arriving in Boston. Since the start of the preseason, the former Bucks and Pelicans point guard has worn number 4, and he explained that it was a tribute to Isaiah Thomas.

“Jrue Holiday said he chose number 4 because he, his brothers and sister are 4, and because of Isaiah Thomas” says Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. “He contacted Isaiah before choosing the number. »

What the former Celtics elf confirmed in a message posted on social networks.

“I’ve been super close to the Holiday family since 2008! It’s my friend! » writes Isaiah Thomas, one of whose nicknames was the “King in the Fourth” for his exploits in the final quarters in Boston.

In the history of the Celtics, the number 4 has often been worn by playmakers, such as Chauncey Billups, Jason Terry and Nate Robinson.
