Josh Nebo will be able to play the TQO with Slovenia

In April, the idea of seeing Josh Nebo joining the Slovenian selection for the TQO (pre-Olympic tournament) was mentioned. Two months later, it is almost confirmed since the player announced that he was now a Slovenian citizen, therefore eligible to team up with Luka Doncic and his gang.

“I am very excited about this opportunity and I feel proud to be able to play for the Slovenian national team”he declared on the national federation website. “I am looking forward to the next events and hope they are successful. I promise the fans that I will do my best during training and matches to achieve the best possible results. »

Josh Nebo is a 2m06 interior player, born in Houston, played by Texas A&M in the NCAA. He then had a career in Lithuania and Israel, at Maccabi Tel Aviv since 2022. This year, he averaged 11.1 points and 7.3 rebounds in the Euroleague.

However, his place for the TQO in Athens, from July 2 to 7, is not assured since FIBA only allows one naturalized player in the squad of each nation for international competitions. And the Slovenian group already has one, with Mike Tobey. Clearly, only one of the two will be able to play the TQO, then the Paris Olympic Games in the event of qualification, and they will have to earn their place during the training camp which begins in a few days.
