Early January, Jordan Clarkson marked Jazz history by signing his first career triple-double, and the first for his franchise since 2008. Two months later, against the Wizards, the guard wrote a new page in the books of the franchise based in Utah.
While his team was mistreated by the worst team in the league, the replacement signed a new offensive orgy. After taking just one shot in the first quarter, the 31-year-old started to seriously heat up in the second. More struggling in the third, he converted five of his six attempts to swing the game in favor of Jazz in “money time”.
A superb stat line
With, on arrival, 38 points (13/26 on shots including 4/9 from distance, and 8/9 on the line) in 36 minutes. His personal best this season, but also a franchise record for the greatest number of games with 30 points or more coming off the Jazz bench. The previous record belonged to Thurl Bailey, who did not fail to point it out to him after the meeting, by interviewing him.
At the end of the 1980s, he notably finished second, twice, in the race for the trophy for best 6th man in the league, with almost 20 points on average. The big evening of his successor, winner of this trophy in 2021, was greeted by his coach Will Hardy who said “ frankly more proud of his 10 rebounds » captured as his number of points scored.
His player actually signed his 6th double-double of the season, even adding 7 assists to his statistics line to his rebounds. Seeing a replacement with such production is unheard of in history.
The worthy heir of Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams
