Passing through Cameroon, Joel Embiid was decorated by his country of origin. The pivot, as we know, has just won the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games, with the American team and under boos, and Cameroon has decided to elevate him to the rank of Commander of the Order of Valor, via its president, Paul Biya.
He received this medal in the conference room of the Ministry of Sports in Yaoundé from the hands of Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Minister of Sports and Physical Education. Given his remarks Joel Embiid was very touched by it at the time.
“I was told what it’s worth. It’s more than the gold medal. Thank you to the Minister, my family and the Cameroonian people who support me. I come from Cameroon and as I always say, that will never change!”
After the victory of the United States, for which he holds a passport, the Sixers pivot was asked about his possible participation in the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028. He did not rule out being there, but he also mentioned the possibility of doing everything possible to ensure that Cameroon participates.
