Joe Mazzulla appreciates that the NBA Cup makes “unwritten rules” disappear

Enough to allow Sam Hauser to score a final 3-pointer at the buzzer, to win 138-129.

This is because the meeting was played as part of the NBA Cup and the Celtics will not finish first in their group, dominated by the Hawks. To reach the quarter-finals of the mid-season tournament, the Massachusetts players must recover the “wild card” for best second, which will undoubtedly be played out on “point average”.

But in this case, we design a system and we try to do better. The guys did a good job running the system and we tried to increase the point average as much as we could. »

This 3-pointer from Sam Hauser could also be of capital importance because it allows the Celtics to post a “point average” of +23. Boston will thus find itself in a tie with the losers of the Magic (+60) – Knicks (+15) and Bucks (+29) – Pistons (+28) matches and, in this three-way tie, every point could count…
