Joe Ingles overtaken by pace for his comeback

His arrival on the floor did not provoke any particular reaction from the Pelicans public. The entry into play of Joe Inglesthis night in New Orleans, was however a small event since the winger had not played since January 30, 2022.

His appearance put an end to ten months of trouble, started by a rupture of a ligament in the left knee, at the time when he still wore the jersey of his team forever, the Jazz. Transferred in stride to Portland, the Australian embarked on a new adventure in Wisconsin.

The Bucks will probably have to be patient with him before they see him return to his former performance. Evidenced by this not simple return match. For his first pass, started at the end of the first quarter, he first missed a well-open shot from 3-pointers in a corner.

Then his pass to launch Giannis Antetokounmpo in transition ended at the feet of the Greek, before a second lost ball for a failed transmission to Brook Lopez, alone in a corner, on a placed attack.

On this same sequence, the Australian however found the “Greek Freak” for an “alley-oop”. A technical relationship that we may eventually come to compare with the one he had with Rudy Gobert.

Phenomenal work to get back

It was really nice to be on the field and to do some sequences. The pace is obviously a bit fast for me at the moment. I’m just trying to find him but obviously it’s nice to be there with the guys and see what I was hoping for when I signed “, testifies the left-hander, questioned at half time of the match.

This pleasure did not prevent him from signing a very mediocre copy without any points scored, only missed shots at 3-pointers (0/4), 2 assists, 1 interception but 3 lost balls in 15 minutes.

It’s so great to have Joe on the court with us, so great to have Joe in our program. Kudos to him, his work to get to this point, the amount of time and effort he’s put in all summer, all of September, pre-season, regular season… It’s work phenomenal Joe Ingles, I couldn’t be more impressed with him Compliments Mike Budenholzer.

His player who, by the way, offered the record for the oldest Australian player to have walked on an NBA floor.
