A few weeks before separating from Rudy Gobert then Donovan Mitchell, Utah had turned the page Joe Inglestransferred in full convalescence to the Blazers, whose jersey he will never wear.
The Salt Lake City franchise and the winger will have grown together for eight great years, from 2014 to 2022, and it is therefore with some emotion that Joe Ingles is preparing to return to the floor of the Vivint Arena as a visitor for the second time in his career, since Utah hosts Milwaukee tonight.
“It will be weird and different. I was in the away locker room once with the Clippers when I first came in for a preseason game in 2014. Tonight there will be a lot of different emotions”, said Joe Ingleswho was unable to take part in the first meeting between the two teams in Milwaukee in December.
The right time for a change of scenery
His great story with the Jazz unfortunately ended with a serious knee injury in January 2022. When signing for a new team this summer, it was therefore Milwaukee who won after careful consideration. Eight months later, he does not regret his choice.
“I would be lying if I said that I didn’t lose a lot of sleep and that I wasn’t very stressed”he added about the offseason. “The franchise and the players have been great from day one. Even though the situation looked a bit grim for a while, it turned out to be very positive for us. On the ground, we are starting to feel that it works too ”.
While the Jazz is in a transition phase, Joe Ingles has for his part offered the luxury of being able to bounce back in a team cut out for the title. Over the weeks, he has regained his impact and is now flourishing in his new team, with the ultimate goal in mind: to help the Bucks get a new ring.
“It’s very motivating. These guys know what it takes to make it happen. They know how it feels and they want to start over. We have exceptional players and Coach Budenholzer is a great coach. In the end, what matters is winning.
