After a successful Draft night with the recruitments of Anthony Black (6th choice) and Jett Howard (11th choice), the Magic aims right on the market with a sober but intelligent recruitment, that of Joe Ingles.
According to ESPN, the 35-year-old winger signed for two seasons and $22 million in what is arguably the last paying contract of his NBA career. It’s expensive, but the Magic weren’t going to make a big splash in the market anyway, and therefore had every interest in spending their money on a player of this profile.
A veteran profile, accomplished in the league and appreciated by the locker room wherever he went. A profile that was missing in Orlando, in a very young workforce, in short. Without forgetting, and this is the most important, that the former Jazz and Bucks can still render great services on the boards, in particular in the exercise of the outside shot: he was still turning at 40.9% behind the arc (on 4.4 shots/game) this season with Milwaukee.
