Joe Harris and Monte Morris, a bonus of experience in Detroit

The Pistons had a nice recruiting envelope for “free agency”, but Troy Weaver preferred to use it to recover Joe Harris and Monte Morris upstream, in exchanges.

It is that with the arrival of Monty Williams on the bench, the GM hopes that this group will pass a milestone this season.

“We wanted to add shooting and veterans”, explains Troy Weaver. “Morris and Harris bring that, no doubt. They will help this young nucleus grow, and that will bring more space on the pitch. We also have (Bojan) Bogdanovic and (Alec) Burks, two other veterans who can really shoot, so just adding these two guys to round out our young core, we think is going to really help us.”

With Cade Cunningham’s return from injury and Ausar Thompson’s Draft, plus the arrivals of Monte Morris and Joe Harris, the Pistons finally want to get away from these seasons that ended around 20 wins…

As it has been for four years.

“Monty Williams is a great coach. For me, it’s the development that counts.”continues Troy Weaver, who has long been responsible for finding talent at Jazz and Thunder. “I love seeing these young players develop into the best versions of themselves. I sometimes whisper in coaches’ ears about what I would like to see, but I’m just encouraged by the way these guys are working. »

Enough to allow the team to regain its past glory, after long years of scarcity?

“There was a Pistons legend in that position, with Joe Dumars, who was a great leader and a great player in Detroit. We’re just trying to emulate and replicate what they’ve done in the past so guys like Joe and Isiah (Thomas) can be proud of what we’re putting in place on the pitch.”
