Jimmy Butler extended this summer by the Heat?

Eliminated in the first round against Boston, the Heat's season is already over. An adventure which ends prematurely for the 2023 finalists and an off-season which therefore begins earlier than expected.

With this question: Jimmy Butler will it be extended this summer by Miami? The winger can in fact sign a contract extension even though he still has a year of contract guaranteed for next season, at $48.8 million, and a “player option” of $52.4 million for financial year 2025/26.

However, the former Bulls can only sign a two-year extension. Basically, as the Miami Herald explains, he will ask the Heat “to replace the two years and $101.2 million remaining on his contract (if he exercises the 2025/26 player option) with a three-year commitment worth $161.7 million. »

Bam Adebayo also eligible for an extension

The Butler camp thus seems decided to request a contract extension, which above all resembles an increase in value, because in fact, it would guarantee his 2025/26 contract year by adding two million dollars, to increase his salary this season – there from 52.4 to 54.3 million dollars. While adding a new contract year, for 2026/27, at $58.6 million. He will then be 37 years old.

It remains to be seen if this is really in Pat Riley's plans. Because at now 34 years old, Jimmy Butler missed the first round of the playoffs, and he has especially missed around twenty games this season following various physical problems, sometimes appearing disinterested and frustrated during regular season matches.

Especially since he is not the only member of the team who could be extended this summer. This is also the case of Bam Adebayo. The pivot could extend him for $165 million over three years if he is not eligible for the “supermax”. If he is, by being elected “Defender of the Year” or by joining one of the three All-NBA Teams of the season, he will then be able to initial an offer of 245 million dollars over four years.
