After their heavy defeat conceded on Canadian soil against the Raptors, the Jazz made a better impression in Portland. The Mormon franchise won quite well (101-118) after a close encounter for three quarters.
The two teams were also perfectly equal at the break (54-54) but the Jazz substitutes will do better than their opposing counterparts to sign a fatal 36-25 in the last act.
Before this last decisive period, the visitors were able to rely on the 19 points of Jordan Clarkson, placed in the five of his five alongside the other “survivor” of the great summer sell-off, Mike Conley (16 points). The two veterans were joined in their efforts by two rookies, Collin Sexton (13) and Kelly Olynyk (12). Lauri Markkanen, on the other hand, missed his address level match (7 points at 2/9 on shots).
Opposite, the Blazers were able to show good things in their interior-exterior relations. Apart from Anfernee Simons who was a bit watered on shots (13 points at 4/13), the five led by Damian Lillard’s 21 points (but 5 lost balls) were clean at address level but made a lot of mistakes.
Note the good outing of Justise Winslow who seems to be in good shape.
