Jayson Tatum: “Kristaps Porzingis made us a better team”

We still don't know if Kristaps Porzingis will get the green light to participate in Game 1 of the Finals, but his very probable return excites teammates and coaches. Since his arrival, the Latvian has won over everyone with his personality and his game, and Jayson Tatum is the first to step up to praise the qualities of his strong winger.

“KP did exactly what we expected of him throughout the season,” sums up Tatum. “Whether it's punishing switches or creating space for others, being in the corner, sometimes that can result in possessions without touching the ball. Or when the defenders change, we give him the ball five times in a row.”

Injured since April 29, Porzingis trained normally all weekend, and the most important thing is to avoid any relapse. Even if Boston remains on nine victories in ten matches without him, Tatum insists on the importance of the Latvian in Joe Mazzulla's system.

“We are evolving a lot of things and we have so many talented and gifted players offensively and defensively”recalls Tatum. “Everyone has to be willing to try different things. And I give KP a lot of credit, especially for someone as talented and as great as him. Many interiors can be stuck in their ways and only do what makes them comfortable. He stepped out of his comfort zone a little bit and it made us a better team. »
