Jay Scrubb seriously injured in the knee

The Celtics announced some very bad news before their first pre-season match against Philadelphia yesterday, with the serious injury Jay Scrubbone of their three “two-way contracts”, victim of a torn anterior cruciate ligament right knee during Saturday’s training.

This is another hard blow for the 23-year-old guard, drafted in the second round by the Nets in 2020, then sent to the Clippers, and who has since fought to keep a spot in the NBA. Until then, he had alternated a lot with the G-League by adding “two-way contracts”.

Fired by the Clippers last summer while recovering from a right foot injury, he finally bounced back to the G-League team of the Orlando Magic, who offered him a two-contract at the end of the season, which allowed him to play two NBA games at the very end of the year.

Unfortunately for him, the Celtics could do the same by cutting him and placing him back on their G-League roster in order to be able to sign a third valid “two-way contract”.
