Jarrett Culver revived by the Magic

Coby White, Cam Johnson, PJ Washington, Tyler Herro… Here are a handful of players who were drafted in 2019, behind Jarrett Culver. The former Wolves and Hawks winger never justified his 6th place pick in the 2019 Draft, and five years later, he is forced to accept a simple Magic Camp Invitation.

At just 25 years old, Jarrett Culver has not played in the NBA since December 2022, and last season, he played in the G-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, with whom he averaged 20.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Earlier this summer, he was tested by the Sixers, who did not follow up.

Since the Magic already have 15 players under contract, and he is not eligible for a “two-way contract”Jarrett Culver is expected to remain with the franchise with the G-League team, hoping to be called up during the season.

With the invitation, the Magic have completed their training camp roster with Myron Gardner, Mac McClung, Tre Scott and Jalen Slawson competing for two of the three remaining two-way contracts.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to have them play mainly in their affiliated development league franchise but also up to 50 matches in the NBA.
