Jaren Jackson Jr.'s new contract in Memphis will wait

This is nothing alarming, but ESPN still announces that Jaren Jackson Jr. and the Grizzlies have not reached an agreement for an extension this year. They had until Monday to do so and they will wait until the next offseason to discuss it together again.

Under contract guaranteed until 2026, “JJJ” had the possibility of returning to Memphis for $106 million over three years. By waiting a few months, he will have the opportunity to receive $147 million over four years from his leaders. But if he is named MVP, if he is elected Defender of the Year (like in 2023) or if he is selected for an All-NBA Team, he will definitely be able to obtain $345 million over five years!

At just 25 years old, Jaren Jackson Jr. is fundamental to the success of the Grizzlies, just like Ja Morant. Fragile at the start, but increasingly robust over time, he is coming off the best season of his career, on an individual level: 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.2 interceptions on average (at 44% shooting, including 32% from 3-point range, and 81% from throws).
