Full-time GM of the Suns since 2019, after sharing the interim, James Jones has allowed the Phoenix franchise to progress at high speed.
In just two years, and after being one of the worst teams in the league for many years, the Suns came close to the NBA title in 2021, with a loss in the Finals against Milwaukee.
That same year, Jones was logically elected leader of the year, for his excellent recruitment (Chris Paul and Jae Crowder). Last year, even though they fell in the conference semi-finals, the Suns still dominated the regular season with 64 wins, the best record in the league.
And this season again, the troops of Monty Williams (another good blow from Jones when he arrived) are among the serious candidates for the title and they currently dominate the Western Conference.
This remarkable work done by Jones for more than three years is now rewarded with a promotion: he becomes “president of basketball operations” of the Suns, announced the franchise. He will therefore now have the double role of GM and president.
OFFICIAL: James Jones has been promoted to President of Basketball Operations and General Manager for the Phoenix Suns.
