James Harden replaces Reggie Miller on the 3-point shooter podium

On February 9, 2011, with his 2,560 award-winning baskets, Reggie Miller was still the most prolific 3-point shooter in NBA history. The next day, Ray Allen overtook him. Times have changed and eleven years later, the former Pacers star is no longer on the podium…

Stephen Curry took the crown earlier in the season and it is now James Harden who has just ejected him from third place. The Sixers star only needed a basket behind the arc to get past him.

He scored it in the first quarter against Brooklyn, on the head of his former teammate Kyrie Irving, and under the gaze of Miller, still as fair-play and decked out in a jersey to pay tribute to the All-Star.

“It’s clearly huge to be the third all-time”commented the 2018 MVP for ESPN. “Becoming the first will be complicated, because Stephen is the best shooter of all time. But from Reggie to Ray Allen, passing by Kyle Korver (who is fifth in this ranking), they are all amazing shooters. I’m lucky to be on this list. I will do my best to catch Curry, but it will be tough. “

With his 2,563 3-point shots, Harden is 413 award-winning shots from second place, held by Ray Allen (2,973). With its pace of recent years, it should exceed it within two seasons. Note however that Harden shoots 36.2% in career, against 39.5% for Miller and 40% for Allen. Clearly, he watered a lot to climb on the podium…

To double Curry on the other hand, as he is already 552 shots behind and the Warriors point guard continues to put them on (another five more against Denver), it will actually get complicated.
