James Bouknight’s future in Charlotte increasingly unclear

The bad news keeps coming for James Bouknight. Because after missing Charlotte’s training camp following a meniscus injury, which ultimately forced him to undergo surgery, the full-back sees his future darkening.

The Hornets have just announced that they have declined their “team option” on the player for the 2024/25 season.

By refusing to validate this $6 million option, a rare decision, Charlotte offers itself a little more financial flexibility, and they will undoubtedly push James Bouknight towards the exit at the end of the season.

The former Connecticut player will thus be an unprotected “free agent” at the end of the campaign. A choice ultimately not so surprising because the 23-year-old full-back has mainly been talked about for his extra-sporting problems…
