Jamal Murray: ‘I’m better than a lot of players in the NBA’

“Playoffs Murray” hurt the Lakers very badly last night with a fiery 4th quarter to snatch victory: 23 of his 37 points in the last twelve minutes. The Nuggets lead 2-0, and they are two wins away from the first final in their history. We are not there yet, but Jamal Murray still does not understand being ignored.

“I think I’m not respected as much as I should be,” Murray told Andscape Thursday evening. “I’m better than a lot of players in the league. Every time I see rankings [par poste], I think it’s crazy. Maybe it’s because I’ve been away so long. But if we win the title, it will change everything.

Tonight, Murray hit the 20-point mark in the 4th quarter for the 4th time in his career. No one has done better for 25 years. Not even Allen Iverson or Kobe Bryant. And yet, the Canadian does not have superstar status. Moreover, he is not even All-Star despite his 20 points, 6.2 assists and 4 rebounds on average this season.

“Even when we win, they talk about the other team”

For Michael Porter Jr, the Murray 2023 is however better than that of the “bubble”. “He’s definitely one of the best guards in the NBA. He was not selected to the All-Star Game, but he is one of the best players in the NBA. In the NBA, you have to put baskets. He can put complicated shots late in the game like the best. He shows it in these playoffs. People thought it was bullshit in the “bubble”. But I told him he was even better than in the “bubble”. He sees the game better. I’m happy for him. »

In the end, Murray is like Denver: underestimated.

“We’re the Denver Nuggets, and we’re used to it. Even when we win, they talk about the other team. recalls the leader of Denver. “But I don’t want to go too fast. We want to focus on the present moment. We want to focus on the present moment, on every game. If we go to the final, we will go to the final and we will go down in history. But we still have things to do to win the title and shut everyone up. »
