Jake LaRavia is one of seven unprotected players at the end of their rookie contract

For a long time it was an almost automatic procedure but, with the entry into force of the new collective agreement, and the greater sanctions against the biggest spending teams, several players in their rookie contracts saw their franchises refuse to activate the options on their future campaigns.

MarJon Beauchamp (Bucks) and Jalen Hood Schifino (Lakers) will thus be an unprotected “free agent” at the end of the season but they are not the only ones since Johnny Davis (Wizards), David Roddy (Hawks), Wendell Moore (pistons), Patrick Baldwin (Wizards) will be in the same situation.

But it is for Jake LaRaviathe seventh player on this list, that the decision was undoubtedly the most surprising, because the 19th choice of the 2022 Draft has a real role in the Memphis rotation.

Besides, local journalists ensure that the franchise is not completely closing the door to a return of the strong winger at the end of the campaign, but that it needed financial flexibility for the next season, with 12 players already under contract in 2025/26, and that it will undoubtedly be necessary to extend Luke Kennard and Santi Aldama.
