Ja Morant and Desmond Bane stronger than Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving

Ja Morant (38 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists) on one side; Kevin Durant (37 points, 5 rebounds) and Kyrie Irving (37 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) on the other: there was a show and a lot of points in Tennessee, during the duel between Memphis and brooklynwhose Grizzlies ultimately emerged victorious (134-124).

A setback that net owe in large part to their failed third quarter and the awakening of Desmond Bane (38 points, 7 assists), author of 32 units in the second half alone!

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

Desmond Bane’s XXL second period. At halftime, the back of Memphis had only 6 small points. It was then that he returned from the locker room with a completely different face, to score a whopping 19 points in the third quarter alone, before adding 13 in the fourth! Incandescent at 3-pts (8/11), the 24-year-old took the opportunity to set his new scoring record and to rock this meeting with his heat stroke.

Brooklyn out of the game after the break. In the lead at halftime (69-64) and collectively attractive in the wake of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets unfortunately sank in the third quarter. Dominated 39 to 25, they took the water defensively, in front of the assaults of Ja Morant and especially Desmond Bane, in addition to being less radiant offensively. Then, despite the repeated efforts of “KD” and Kyrie, Steve Nash’s men were never really able to come back to the score and they were even less able to raise their voices in defense, in order to turn the tide…

TOPS/FLOPS

Ja Morant. If it was the awakening of Desmond Bane that allowed the Grizzlies to win this night, we must not forget the importance of the All-Star point guard in this success. Very aggressive towards the circle (11 shots attempted), but also precise from a distance (4/6), he guided his team from start to finish as usual, starting at full speed and then surfing on his good start. Before stepping aside to leave the light to Bane, who had a warm hand.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Despite the loss, the Durant/Irving duo did their best to come away from Memphis with the win. Elusive from start to finish, the two geniuses from Brooklyn took turns tormenting the opposing defense, missing very little and contributing in just about every area in the game. enough for today, but we feel that they are slowly warming up, which can only be a good sign for the Nets…

Santi Aldama. More than Brandon Clarke (13 points), the Spaniard was the Grizzlies’ third most threatening option tonight. Author of 17 points, without forcing anything (6/8 on shots, including 2/4 at 3-pts), the young 21-year-old strong winger confirms his good start to the season where, replacing Jaren Jackson Jr, he proves valuable in Memphis’ starting five.

Nic Claxton. In the shadow of the Durant/Irving pair, the 23-year-old pivot did the job in the racket, compiling 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Solid, he was generally effective (7/10 on shots) and he was able to correctly use the balls that landed in his hands in attack, deterring a few opposing offensives in defense as a bonus.

Ben Simmons. As expected, the Australian’s start to the season is complicated and we will have to be patient with him. Limited to 7 points and 8 assists in 28 minutes, he mostly finished the game with 5 ball losses and 6 fouls. Lacking rhythm and benchmarks in this team, the All-Star interior is currently not up to its status with the New York franchise.

Dillon Brooks. A winning return, but a disappointing return for the Canadian, who was playing his first game of the season there. He ends it with only 4 small points on the counter, 2/13 on shots and 0/5 at 3-pts. Eager to (too) do well, the rear of the Grizzlies forced a lot in attack, sometimes watering excessively when the game asked him to do something else. It should be noted, however, that he remains true to himself in attitude, he who has sintered at times with Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving.
