Isaiah Hartenstein changes the Thunder's game

Because the NBA Cup final does not count for the regular season, the Thunder “officially” remains on 10 consecutive victories, and the setback against the Bucks will therefore leave no trace. Before receiving their runners-up this evening, the Grizzlies, the Thunder won their 10th victory in a row on the Hornets' floor. The opportunity for Isaiah Hartenstein to sign a new double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. It's his 12th double-double in 15 games, and he adds four assists. A stat highlighted by Mark Daigneault, who has been using it for a month.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to expand our system, get to know a new player, get to know this style of player,” explains the Thunder coachpointing out this ability to play “point-center”. More and more pivots are able to see the game from the head of the paint, and at the Knicks, Hartenstein was very complicit with Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo. In OKC, he took advantage of the absence of Chet Holmgren to accelerate his integration and show his qualities as a passer.

“I learned a lot from Jokic” assures the interior, passed through Denver. “A lot of times it doesn't look like the guy is open because there's someone in front of him, but I look at how the defender places his hands. I look at how the defender looks at me. It may not seem like there's a big space, but personally I can see when it's a big enough space to make the pass.”

In a formation that practices a lot of “drive-and-kick”, with shooters ready to draw, this is an additional weapon for OKC.
