The Clippers were quick to readjust their organization chart following the official departure of their former GM, Michael Winger, in Washington. As rumors suggested, the management of the California franchise opted for internal promotions. So Trent Redden and Mark Hughes, former GM assistants to Michael Winger, were named GM and Vice President/First Assistant GM respectively. They will evolve this time on the front line under the direction of Lawrence Frank, president of basketball operations of the Clippers.
It was the initial will of the franchise of Steve Ballmer, but it was necessary to fight to keep the tandem which also had external solicitations.
Like Michael Winger, Trent Redden and Mark Hughes had been in office for six years. Prior to that, Trent Redden spent 11 years with the Cavaliers. Former pro player in the NBA but also passed through France (Tours in 1989-1990, Dijon in 1993-1994, and CRO Lyon in 1994-1995) Mark Hughes was an assistant in Orlando (2002-2004) and Sacramento ( 2006-2007) before becoming a scout for the Knicks (2007-2011).
