This Thursday, LeBron James will undergo an ultrasound, or even an MRI, to find out the severity of his injury to “the left leg” to use the term used by Darvin Ham. In fact, it is a pain in the groin.
“I did nothing in particular about this action” he assures. “It’s just that at the time of the reception, I felt like a little spasm or tension in the groin”.
What worries is that LeBron James was injured in the same place in 2018, and he had missed about twenty matches. And he’s no longer 34, but soon to be 38. Clearly, at the start of the season, he’s on a slippery slope physically… That’s why his coach is asking him to take his time.
“Do what you have to do, take care of your body and listen to it. Do what you’ve always done” explains Darvin Ham. “He is a professional, at the top in many areas, and among these, there is this way of anticipating and playing according to his physical condition. I’ll say it again, he’s the last guy I worry about when it comes to taking care of his physique, sticking to good diet, rest, exercise, etc. He is a five star chef in this area, among many others. »
“I like to try to push the limits”
What if this was the year too many for LeBron James, or at least the year that really begins his decline? On social networks, some make fun of him, and the criticism is all the more intense as the Lakers are picking up. Some think he only has Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record in mind and that’s his only motivation.
“It’s a motivation for myself to keep playing at a high level, no matter the mileage or the years, as long as I’m on the pitch,” said LeBron James on Wednesday morning. “I like to try to push the limits. I know I overworked in all aspects of the game on the field, so I don’t like shooting below 50% or worse on the field. I’ve always prided myself on being efficient on the pitch, so I just have to be better, especially in long shots.”
In the end, he remains deaf to criticism, because he already judges himself severely: “ Guys, I’m turning 38 in less than two months! When you know who you are, it doesn’t matter what people say. »
