In top form, Duncan Robinson wants to continue diversifying his game

Having bounced back well in the 2023/24 financial year, Duncan Robinson was forced to take his foot off the gas late in the campaign due to recurring back pain. After missing 9 of the last 14 regular season games, he was unable to return to his best form in the first round against Boston.

With five weeks to go before the restart, the shooter gave reassuring news to the Florida media, explaining that all that was now behind him and that he felt ready to return, this time being able to play at 100%.

“I feel very good. We took all the necessary measures, reviewing what needed to be reviewed. I was not stopped, I had no restrictions for almost eight weeks. I was able to train without restrictions.”, he declared. “I always make a point of sticking with what I do in the gym. But I didn't have any problems with it. It was a rude awakening for my 30th birthday, since I found myself with back pain less than a month later. You can't defy time.”

Progress, individually and collectively

The goal now will be to find the right balance in his game and the role he can bring to Erik Spoelstra's team, mainly in attack.

Duncan Robinson entered last season with a slightly more diverse offensive palette, particularly in his relationship with attacking the rim and creating with the ball in his hands. He was also recognized by being one of 14 players to receive votes for the league's Most Improved Player award.

“Becoming a better player, a more complete player. This summer I focused on my body by focusing on strength and stability. Continuing to improve beyond my shooting and decision making.”he responded about his goals. “How can I come back as a more dynamic player overall?”

To motivate him, as well as the rest of the team, Duncan Robinson will be able to take a look at the bookmakers' predictions which have placed the Heat in 15th place in the title contenders' ranking, on paper.

“I think it’s important. People are paying attention to it. There’s this narrative that goes around the franchise that nobody thinks we’re going to do anything. Since I’ve been here, it’s something we’ve relied on. We’ve been through it many times before and we know how to use it moving forward. At least it’s going to set the tone for training camp and it’s going to be a springboard for the start of the season.”
