Via the Monumental Sports structure now headed by Michael Winger, the Wizards, the Capital City Go-Go in the G-League and the Mystics in the WNBA are continuing their restructuring. Adrian Wojnarowski has announced that Capital City Go-Go has found a successor to Mike Williams for his coaching position.
This is Cody Toppert, a former professional player who passed through minor leagues in Europe from 2006 to 2012 and assistant since 2015.
Passed by the G-League at the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2015-2017) and the Northern Arizona Suns (2017-2018) where he was head coach, he then joined the staff of the Suns of Igor Kokoskov in 2018/19 before to continue his career as an assistant in the NCAA, at the Memphis Tigers of Penny Hardaway (2019-2022) then at LSU last season.
The Washington Wizards are hiring LSU assistant Cody Toppert to be the franchise’s G League head coach with the Capital City Go-Go, sources tell ESPN. Toppert previously worked with the Phoenix Suns as an NBA assistant and G League head coach.
