In search of a coach, the Pistons begin their interviews

The end of the Dwane Casey era now recorded, Detroit can advance its first pawns in search of his successor as head coach. Adrian Wojnarowski indicated that the Pistons had just received the agreement from Milwaukee to interview Charles Lee, first assistant to Mike Budenholzer on the Bucks bench.

Passed by Atlanta (2014-2018) and assistant in Wisconsin for five years, Charles Lee had notably been tracked by the Lakers and the Jazz pouf to become a “head coach” during the previous offseason, before finally being promoted to first assistant to Mike Budenholzer after the departure of Darvin Ham in LA.

Two other assistants would be in the sights of the Pistons: Adrian Griffin and Chris Quinn. Former NBA player from 1999 to 2008 (477 games), Adrian Griffin has been an assistant coach for 15 years, successively in Milwaukee (2008-2010), Chicago (2010-2015), Orlando (2015-16), Oklahoma City (2016-2018 ) and now Toronto (2018-2022). Chris Quinn has meanwhile made a name for himself in Miami, as a player from 2006 to 2010 and then an assistant since 2014. The two should also go through the interview box once the agreement of their franchises.

Finally, Shams Charania added that Kevin Ollie was also going to be interviewed. Coach of UConn from 2012 to 2018, with whom he won the NCAA championship title in 2014, he had been playing as a coach in the “Overtime Elite” development league for two years. We would therefore be moving towards a new rookie coach to lead the Pistons, as has been the trend in recent years in the NBA.
