In an emergency, Anthony Davis should play the last back-to-back of the season

The Lakers are currently in 11th place in the West, which virtually does not allow them to be qualified in the playoffs, or even in the play-in.

With a record of 35 wins for 37 losses, Darvin Ham’s men are nevertheless very close to 6th place directly qualifying for the playoffs, currently held by the Warriors (37-36). Only two wins separate these two teams, and there are still 10 games left in Los Angeles to salvage its season.

If the return of LeBron James is more than expected, the situation aroundAnthony Davis also raises questions. The Lakers pivot missed twenty games over the December / January period because of his right foot. Since his return, he has never been authorized by the Lakers medical staff to play back-to-back.

Although he no longer feels any pain, the medical staff say that the injury can wake up, and that putting him in a back-to-back contest would carry some risk. The concern is that without LeBron James, the absences of Anthony Davis weigh even heavier. As we have seen on the Rockets floor in recent days…

Given the urgency of the classification, the franchise plans to revise its plans. According to Chris Haynes, the Lakers thus allowed Anthony Davis to play one of the last two back-to-back of the team. Either last week’s (Pelicans, Rockets) or early April. The interior then opted for the second. On April 4, Los Angeles will travel to Utah before facing the Clippers the next day. Two meetings that already smell of powder, and that the Lakers will absolutely have to take to keep their “postseason” hopes alive.

There are 10 games left for the Lakers with crucial confrontations against direct competitors like Oklahoma City, Minnesota or Utah. Meetings that will all have to be played with Anthony Davis pending the return of LeBron James, who should normally return before the end of the regular season, according to Darvin Ham.
