Hit in the tibia, Cade Cunningham is out until further notice

Away from the parquet floors for ten days, due to a pain in the left tibia which would date from his rookie season and which would have woken up during the last off-season, Cade Cunningham could be gone much longer…

In effect, The Athletic has just confirmed the first rumors of Mark Stein, according to which the injury of the 21-year-old leader would be more serious than initially expected. So much so that a stress fracture is now considered in the camp of the player and the Pistons !

While waiting for his status to be updated, Cade Cunningham (19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.0 average assists this season) is obviously out for an indefinite period, because rest will be his best ally. The operation is therefore not yet favored, nor ruled out, and caution will be in order in Michigan, because the first choice of the 2021 Draft is considered the basic element of the reconstruction of Detroit.

This extended absence, however, benefits Killian Hayes, who will continue to act as interim in Dwane Casey’s starting lineup, alongside Jaden Ivey, the franchise’s latest star rookie. For six games, the Frenchman has been showing his best, with 11.8 points on average at 39% from afar, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds on average.
