Everything can go very quickly in the NBA, in one direction or the other, and Jalen McDaniels (26 years old, 2.06m) has experienced this since leaving the Hornets a year and a half ago. While he was in his best career season, the winger, capable of helping out at position 4, was traded to Philadelphia during the 2023 trade deadline.
The player had ambitions to establish himself in Pennsylvania but Philly had other plans during the summer and only offered him a minimum contract. Jalen McDaniels then signed with Toronto for a two-year, $9.26 million contract.
This was the start of the problem since after a rather discreet season, he was traded to the Kings, then to the Spurs, who cut him immediately, before the start of the season, in order to stay below the ” luxury tax. Jalen McDaniels therefore returned to the G-League, signing up with the Memphis Hustle, for whom he never played. Yesterday, it was the franchise affiliated with the Wizards, the Capital City Go-Go, which formalized its arrivalagainst his first and second choice of the 2026 Draft as well as the rights to Max Heidegger.
This time, Jalen McDaniels should therefore have the opportunity to show himself and why not claim a place in the Wizards squad in the long term. As a reminder, the Wizards’ three “two-way contracts” are already awarded to Jared Butler, Justin Champagnie and Tristan Vukcevic.
