Hawks extend youth through 2024

While they have been discussing for several weeks with the Suns about a potential transfer of Jae Crowder, the Hawks do not forget to manage their internal files at the same time.

ESPN actually reports that the leaders of the Atlanta club have activated the “team option” on the fourth year of the contract ofOnyeka Okongwuand on the third year of that of Jalen Johnsonwhich are therefore tied to their franchise until 2024.

Selected in 6th position in the 2020 Draft by the Hawks after his “freshman” season at USC, the first has served as Clint Capela’s understudy for two seasons, and has shown steady progress over the months.

The second was the 20th choice of the 2021 Draft for Atlanta, despite a disappointing “freshman” season at Duke, which was voluntarily interrupted in February. He spent most of his time in the G-League last year, averaging 22.5 points and 11.1 rebounds, so he still hasn’t really launched his NBA career.
