Absent from the NBA courts for two years, Harry Giles tries to relaunch his career, and he multiplies the tries to get a ” two way contract“. After doing a workout in Las Vegas, he’s in Miami this weekend, and the New York Daily News reports that the Nets will be there to see him in action.
At 25, the 20th choice of the 2017 Draft wants to prove that his physical problems are behind him, and that he still has the level to play in the NBA, or even in the G-League. Absent from the field for 18 months, he is ready to climb the slope with a simple “two-way contract”, and he has the possibility thanks to the new regulations included in the collective agreement.
Previously, players like Giles were not “eligible” for the “two-way contract”, and it was his friend and former teammate Jayson Tatum who lobbied the NBA and the union for players, victims of serious injuries, can qualify for a “two-way contract”, even with four years of seniority in the league.
Two-way contract : designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of one or two additional players, to develop them mainly in their development league franchise affiliate but also up to 50 NBA games.
