Hank Gathers, death in the middle of a match

He was one of the most promising talents in college basketball in the late 80s. Perhaps even the best player of his generation.

But the life of Eric “Hank” Gathers came to an abrupt end on March 4, 1990, during a Loyola Marymount NCAA game. As with Len Bias four years earlier, the basketball world suddenly found itself deprived of an immense talent.

It is this sad story that we tell you today in Histoire(s) de basketball.

An episode written by Jonathan Demay.
